This mark complies with the UNE ecological standards conceived for distinguishing those products and services that have a greater impact on the environment, either due to the existence of hazardous substances, pollutant emissions or due to other reasons. It is therefore necessary to analyse the whole life-cycle of the product: the raw materials used, design, manufacture, use and elimination once its useful life has expired.
The ecological criteria are those requirements that must be complied with by a product or service for it to be awarded the AENOR Environmental Mark, which are defined in the pertinent UNE standards.
Once the most important environmental repercussions have been identified, and the life-cycle phases in which such repercussions take place, the ecological criteria can be established.
The AENOR Environmental Mark provides consumers with information on the environmental aspects of the products and services available on the market. The mark has been conceived for consumer products, and does not cover food, drinks and pharmaceuticals.
Once the right to use this mark has been granted to a product or service, it is subjected to regular control, both in the plant and in the market, to verify that the requirements established with respect to the ecological criteria continue to be met.
