GRI Sustainability Reports Validation

The AENOR Document for the Validation of Sustainability Reports provides all companies that are interested with sufficient confidence as to the veracity of the information contained in the report, their relevance and evidence that the report is in keeping with the requirements of the guide for preparing Sustainability reports published by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

The GRI guide aims to homogenise the preparation of sustainability reports in order that they can be checked and to encourage the participation of all interested parties.

The correct preparation of a sustainability report implies the coherence of the information provided and the possibility of comparing the evolution of the data over several years with that of other entities, thereby promoting on-going improvement in the activities of companies in three dimensions: economic, environmental and social.

The advantages to companies of having their sustainability reports verified and validated are as follows:

  • They offer sufficient confidence to the "interested parties" (Stakeholders), on the veracity and relevance of the information and the data contained in the sustainability reports.
  • The comprehensive information offered on company activities in relation to environmental, economic and social aspects contributes to improving its image in the eyes of the interested parties.
  • They present a clear vision of the human and ecological repercussions made by the company, so that those responsible for taking decisions on investments, purchases and possible alliances are kept well-informed.
  • They provide all interested parties with reliable information that is relevant for their needs and interests and encourages other players to take part in discussions and research.
  • They provide a management tool that helps the organisation to evaluate and continuously make improvements on its actions and progress.
  • It is a complement to, and not a substitute for, other reports, including financial reports.
